The successful candidate will play a key role in developing high quality, scientific and policy-relevant work within the Urban Development and Mobility department and in close collaboration with a consortium of 15 institutions in Europe.

About the WinWin4WorkLife (WW4WL) project

In this project we study the social, economic and spatial impact of remote working arrangements (RWA) by combining employer and employee perspectives into a single framework and applied to five case studies in Europe (DE, FI, LU, PT, SK).  The main large objectives of WW4WL are to (1) Enhance an interdisciplinary understanding of these impacts of RWA in using mixed methods, (2) Identify essential living and working conditions of RWA that ensure a healthy work-life balance and gender equity in urban, rural and cross-border areas (the 5 case studies), (3) Develop forecasting models of spatial and environmental impacts of RWA with different scenarios, (4) Assess regional and cultural differences in RWA, with special attention to different remote work practices in 5 case studies, (5) Elaborate evidence-based policies for healthy, inclusive and sustainable RWA in close collaboration with stakeholders and citizens.

The project relies on a new data collection in these five case studies. We already collected information about remote work from companies, and we are now collecting information from employees. This employee study consists of three phases: (i) an online survey (currently ongoing), (ii) a time-use diary with GPS tracking, and (iii) in-depth interviews.

The main objective of the selected candidate in the WW4WL project is to help conduct these interviews in the Luxembourg case study. This will be done following instructions and an interview guide developed by one of the consortium partners. After conducting these interviews in Luxembourg, the candidate will also help transcribe audio recordings of these interviews, and finally translate these transcripts into English. Transcribing and translating can be done partly using AI tools, but the selected candidate will still have to perform a quality control. Other consortium partners will then analyze the content of the interviews (using these translated transcriptions).

Your Role

In this context, the successful candidate will have the following missions:

  • Schedule interviews (online or on-site) with selected candidates;
  • Follow up emails about interviews scheduling (rescheduling, cancellations, …);
  • Conduct interviews with selected candidates in French, English and/or German;
  • Transcribe interview recordings;
  • Translate transcriptions into English.

Your Profile

  • You are currently enrolled as a Master student at the University of Luxembourg in social sciences, geography, political sciences, economics or a related field, and seeking for a student part-time job;
  • Experience with conducting and transcribing interviews;
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English and French are required; German is a strong asset;
