Project description
For the Horizon Europe project REGEN (REGENeration of neighbourhoods towards a low-carbon, inclusive and affordable built environment), LISER is looking for a Research Associate (Postdoc) who will work at the forefront of innovation in a dynamic community of researchers and stakeholders in Europe to address sustainability challenges. You will be contributing to the research and implementation of interactive co-creation processes in living labs to identify and test digital planning solutions to reach environmental sustainability, economic revitalization and social inclusion. In addition, via citizen science activities engagement of citizens in scientific activities and decision-making processes will be tested.
The project Data Driven Energy Transition is part of the National Centre of Excellence in Research (NCER) programme, an initiative of the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR). In this project, LISER works closely together with LIST and SNT of the University of Luxembourg. For different energy transition scenarios, living labs will be organized with different energy stakeholders in Luxembourg.
Your role
In this context, the successful candidate will have the following missions:
Within this position, you take the lead in organizing living labs and citizen science activities in REGEN and D2ET :
- Develop implementation guides for living labs and citizen science activities;
- Develop and implement a set of qualitative and design thinking methodologies;
- Develop a set of assessment methods for the performance of living labs and citizen science activities;
- Monitor implementation to ensure consistency;
- Analyse survey and context results, both quantitatively (e.g. semantic analysis, word clouds) and qualitatively (e.g. content analysis);
- Report on the performance of living labs and citizen science activities;
- (Co-)publish results in top-ranked academic journals;
- Submitting research proposal for competitive funding.
Your profile
- PhD in Social Sciences or Humanities (Social or Human Geography, Sociology or other relevant field) or equivalent with qualifications in line with the expectations of the position;
- Based on disciplinary background and experience good understanding of technological challenges and proven ability to collaborate effectively with engineers;
- Good experience working with living labs and citizen science methods in several European countries, with capacity to engage diverse stakeholder groups;
- Sound knowledge and expertise in qualitative and design thinking methods;
- Sound knowledge on quantitative analytical methods;
- Proactive attitude and capable of creating change;
- Excellent organization and communication skills;
- Capable of working in multi-stakeholder environments;
- Having published in peer-reviewed international journals;
- Fluent in English; knowledge of one of Luxembourg's 3 official languages (French, German, Luxembourgish) is considered as advantage.
