LISER invites candidates to apply for the position of Research Associate (postdoc) in Economics or a related discipline within its Living Conditions Department. The successful candidate is expected to :
- conduct excellent research on income inequality, labour markets, taxation, social policy, inflation, environmental policy, spatial inequalities and pensions; and
- contribute to the development, consolidation and extension of LISER’s microsimulation infrastructure, strengthening a cross-cutting, long-term modelling capacity for multiple national and international research initiatives coordinated by LISER.
The successful candidate will join an international microsimulation team with strong ties to the Joint Research Center (JRC-Seville), EUROMOD, ECINEQ, The LSE International Inequalities Institute, LIS, the OECD, the International Microsimulation Association and several European research partners.
Your role
- Produce publications in top-tier journals, engage in the peer-review process and participate in international conferences contributing to the scientific visibility of the department;
- Contribute to analytical reports and document model development;
- Submit and contribute to grant proposals applications (external funding) and participate in the projects carried out by the department with local and international stakeholders;
- Support analytical and modelling work (preparing and harmonising large datasets, developping and maintaining modelling tools, calibrating and running microsimulation modules), and conduct cross-country distributional, behavioural and welfare analyses over time;
- Participate in public outreach activities like policy briefs, round-tables discussions, social media communication.
Your profile
- PhD in Economics or a related discipline;
- Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications;
- Strong quantitative skills and experience working with large micro-datasets;
- Experience in econometrics or statistical modelling;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Over 2 years of relevant postdoctoral research experience ;
- Experience in interdisciplinary and policy-oriented environments;
- Demonstrated experience with the EUROMOD microsimulation model (development and applications) is considered a strong asset;
- Excellent command of written and oral English.
