Research Associate (Post-doc, f/m) in Economics

 

 

  • Ref: 24-18
  • 2 years fixed-term contract (extension possible upon conditions)
  • Full time, 40 hours/week
  • Employment contract at LISER, Labour Market department
  • Work location: Belval (Luxembourg)
  • Expected start date: ideally in early 2025

 

LISER invites highly qualified and motivated applicants for the position of Research Associate (postdoc) within its Labour Market Department. The department has a strong focus in policy evaluation and econometric methods; new technologies and the evolution of skill needs and skill choices; regional economies and worker mobility; migration and work-related inequalities. 

 

 

Your role

The successful candidate will be asked to:

 

  • produce excellent research output, which can be published in high-ranked, peer-reviewed journals;
  • contribute to the submission of grant proposals (external funding);
  • develop and perform evaluations of policy measures;
  • participate in public outreach activities like policy briefs, round tables, social media communication, and take part in the day-to-day department-related activities (workshops, lecture series, etc.).

Your profile

  • Ph.D. in economics or econometrics, ideally with a focus in labour economics or related fields;
  • Strong interest in economics, econometrics and quantitative methods;
  • Excellent quantitative skills and hands-on experience working with data;
  • Excellent writing skills for scientific and more policy-oriented purposes are required;
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills;
  • Skills in programming (R, Python), machine learning and data science are a plus;
  • Excellent verbal communication and academic writing skills in English;
  • Enthusiasm for research, critical thinking and working in an interdisciplinary and diverse team.
