Project description

Bridging Education and Industry: AI-Driven Curriculum Optimisation (AIDCO) is a pilot study that capitalises on the potential of AI to bridge gaps between education and industry. In an era of rapid technological advancement, the demand for advanced and specialised skills sets high expectations for education systems to be responsive and adaptive. Ensuring that academic curricula align with the dynamic needs of the labour market is critical to foster a workforce capable of driving innovation and addressing societal challenges. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies such as large language models (LLM) and knowledge graphs (KG), offers transformative potential for analysing and optimising educational pathways.

Your role

In this context, the successful candidate will have the following missions:

  • Develop and apply AI-based tools, including natural language processing (NLP) methods, to extract, process, and analyze unstructured data from educational curricula and labor market sources ;
  • Design and build knowledge graphs to structure and visualize relationships between educational pathways, skills, and labor market needs ;
  • Conduct algorithmic analyses, such as graph traversal and embedding, to identify gaps and redundancies in educational pathways and workforce skills ;
  • Collaborate with researchers from various fields (e.g., education, economics) to integrate computational insights into actionable recommendations for curriculum design ;
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and research outputs for project deliverables and presentations ;
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in AI, knowledge graph technologies, and their applications in education and labor market alignment.

Your profile

  • Master degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field ;
  • Strong programming skills, preferably in Python, with experience in machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) ;
  • Proficiency in working with graph-based technologies, such as NetworkX or similar libraries ;
  • Solid knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) techniques and tools ;
  • Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC) environments for running large-scale AI models ;
  • Experience deploying and fine-tuning open-source large language models (LLMs), such as LLaMA, GPT, or similar ;
  • Proficiency in data processing, cleaning, and visualization ;
  • Experience building and querying knowledge graphs (e.g., using RDF, SPARQL) is considered as an asset ;
  • Previous experience in interdisciplinary research projects, including social sciences or education sciences, is a plus ;
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills in English.
