intern in the field of data science and machine learning (f/m)

 

  • Ref: 24-10
  • Mandatory internship agreement required
  • Duration: 3 months maximum
  • Full-time/40 hours per week
  • Foreseen start date: as soon as possible
  • Location: Belval (Luxembourg)

LISER invites qualified and motivated applicants for an internship position in the Urban Development and Mobility Department (UDM), within the framework of the research project « Sustainable Residential Densification (SusDens) », under the supervision of Dr. Hichem OMRANI.

 

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

 

  • Develop and improve methodological and programming competences in the fields of machine learning and data analysis ;
  • Develop rigorous scientific research attitude and methods for solving specific problems ;
  • To be part of a stimulating, dynamic and international research environment.

Your Role

 

The selected candidate will actively participate in the following tasks :

 

  • studying and developing supervised and unsupervised learning methods applied for automated pattern detection (classification) in large satellite imagery data ;
  • implementing the developed algorithms using Python language for testing and compare the performance of the proposed algorithms ;
  • contribute to other activities related to the project.

Your Profile

 

  • You are enrolled as a Master student in Computer/Data Sciences, Engineering or a related discipline ;
  • Good programming skills in Python and knowledge in machine learning is required ;
  • Knowledge of Shell scripting and Git would be considered as an asset ;
  • Data handling skills for both raster-based and vector-based large spatial data would be a plus ;
  • Fluency (oral and written) in English, any other language would be considered as an asset ;
  • Ability to take own initiatives, as well as a strong ability for teamwork.
