The Center of Research in Public Economics and Population Economics (CREPP) and the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) invite high qualified and motivated applicants for a PhD position within the framework of the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) project.
SHARE is an international, interdisciplinary and longitudinal survey that follows people aged 50 and more every two years in most European countries since 2005 (www.share-project.org). CREPP and LISER supervise, respectively, the Belgian French-speaking and the Luxembourg SHARE teams. The research interest of these teams is on economics of ageing, population and public economic issues, e.g. retirement and health, income and wealth inequalities. The PhD research project will be in relation with SHARE interests and be held under the co-supervision of Prof. Aline Muller (LISER) and Prof. Sergio Perelman (CREPP, SHARE Belgian French-speaking Country Team Leader). The candidate will follow a doctoral program leading to a PhD in Economics and will lead to a double doctoral degree University of Liège – University of Luxembourg.
We are looking for candidates holding a MA/MSc in Economics. Applicants are expected to have strong methodological skills, both in econometrics and in economic modeling, and a particular interest for research in ageing and related issues. Past research experience in the field, particularly in interdisciplinary studies, will be taken into account.
As part of your PhD program you will be invited to fulfill education requirements, among them advanced/specialized PhD courses.
You will have the possibility to choose your main place of work, either at CREPP (Liège) or at LISER (Luxembourg), but you will also work in the other center on a regular basis in agreement with your supervisors.
- A full-time position at CREPP (35 hours a week) for a maximum of four consecutive periods (2 + 2 years);
- A PhD fellowship of approximatively 2,000 € per month, net of taxes and social contributions;
- The recruited person benefits from Belgian Social Security health care insurance coverage.
The Center of Research in Public Economics and Population Economics (CREPP) is part of HEC-Management School, University of Liège. CREPP has a long tradition and a research expertise in the field of ageing, mainly social security, retirement and long-term care issues. Members of CREPP are at the same time members of the Department of Economics at HEC ULiège.
The Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research is a publicly funded research institute located in Luxembourg and devoted to applied empirical research in economic, social and spatial sciences. The institute employs 180 people (including a survey data center) and is active in the field of economics, sociology, political sciences and geography.
