Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) and the University of Luxembourg in its Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education invite applications for the following vacancy
Research Associate (Post-doc, Economist, m/f)

• Full-time/40 hours per week
• Fixed-term contract 2 years
• Starting ideally on 1 June 2018, not later than 1 Sept 2018
The position arises from a joint initiative of the University of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research. The post-doctoral researcher will be a appointed in the INSIDE research unit (Integrative Research Unit on Social and Individual Development) within the Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education at the University of Luxembourg (https://www.uni.lu/). At the same time, she/he will be full member of LISER (https://www.liser.lu/).
In collaboration with the principal investigators of the project “Gathering expertise for a more comprehensive view of income components in Luxembourg” (Prof. Conchita D’Ambrosio and Dr. Philippe Liégeois), the associate will be tasked to:
Incorporate in the tax-benefit micro-simulation model EUROMOD for Luxembourg the effects of indirect taxes, along with direct taxes and social benefits, on income inequalities ;
Implement a more comprehensive income definition to include non-cash income components such as child-care benefits, public education, imputed rents for owner occupied housing and public housing, health care services, home production and employer-provided fringe benefits.
The post-doctoral researcher will be expected to spend about half time on this assignment.
The associate will also be developing his/her own a specific research agenda in relation with the project and will work within the team of Prof. Conchita D’Ambrosio in INSIDE, as well as with Dr. Philippe Liégeois in LISER.
The associate will be expected to:
Disseminate results through scientific publications and reports ;
Attend scientific conferences and workshops ;
Interact with the UL and LISER researchers and participate in project meetings ;
Contribute to the submission of research proposals.
Ph.D. in Economics ;
Candidates from the following fields are particularly encouraged to apply: Public Economics, Applied Microeconomics ;
Knowledge of economic and microsimulation modelling, EUROMOD in particular ;
Extensive experience in quantitative research (Stata, R, etc.) ;
Fluent in English (speaking and writing) ;
Good level in French.
Personal workspace (this project requires to work on the Institutes’ premises located in the same building) ;
Stimulating work environment ;
Resources for the participation to international meetings.
